George E. Koontz was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on October 17, 1953; admitted to bar 1979, Tennessee.

EDUCATION: University of Tennessee of Chattanooga (B.A., 1975) cum laude; Treasurer, Vice President of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity; University of Tennessee at Knoxville (J.D., 1979). Member: UT Law School, Dean’s Advisory Council, 1978-1979; Chattanooga, Tennessee and American (Member, Section on Litigation) Bar Associations; Tennessee Association for Justice; American Association for Justice. Recipient: American Jurisprudence Award in Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law I and Constitutional Law II. Adjunct Professor, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, 1985- 1987.

George Koontz, partner, is one of the original founders of the firm. George has litigated many jury and non-jury trials to verdict during his almost 30 years of practice in Hamilton County and the surrounding counties. He is a Rule 31 (General Civil) Mediator approved by the Tennessee Supreme Court. He routinely advises and represents healthcare providers on a multitude of matters and has advised and represented various clients on employment-related matters. Over the last 20 years, he has dedicated countless hours to improve the chances of local high school baseball players to obtain college baseball scholarships and to improve the level of baseball played in the Chattanooga area.

He has brought exposure of Chattanooga and Cleveland, Tennessee to hundreds of baseball players, coaches and fans from other cities and states through baseball tournaments he has supervised in the area. He and his wife Carolyn are active in the Graceworks Multi- Denominational Church and they have one son.
